Fill-up Log

How It Works

MPG calculation

MPG (or L/100km) is computed between consecutive fill-ups with a known odometer reading:

  • MPG: miles driven since last fill-up divided by gallons pumped this fill-up.
  • L/100km: (litres pumped / km driven) × 100.

The first entry never gets an MPG value since there is no prior reading to measure from. Every subsequent entry shows the efficiency over that segment.

Cost per mile

Cost per mile (or per km) = total cost of the fill-up divided by distance driven since the previous fill-up. Only entries with both a volume and a unit price contribute to this figure.

Monthly spending chart

Fill-ups are grouped by calendar month. The bar height represents the total fuel spend in that month. Months with no fill-up data are omitted.

Trend chart

Each bar shows the MPG (or L/100km) for one fill-up segment. A rising trend means improving fuel economy; a falling trend may indicate traffic, driving style, or maintenance issues.

Tip: Always fill the tank completely to get accurate MPG readings. Partial fill-ups can skew the numbers. Everything runs in your browser and is saved with localStorage; export a CSV for a permanent copy.
